Moving Tips
- Pack items by room.
- Clearly label boxes of contents and room.
- Pack heavier items in smaller boxes, lighter items in larger boxes.
- Make sure not to pack perishable items (like food).
- For delicate items, make sure you wrap them up well.
- When moving into your new space, get boxes to the room they need to be unpacked in immediately.
- Keep photos, jewelry, and other personal items in a safe, dry environment during the move that is under your supervision.
- Take apart larger furniture and move it in pieces to make the move easier.
- Don't be a hero! If you cannot lift something without hurting yourself, ask for help, or contact us to help you move.
- Plan how you are going to get items like TVs, beds, and couches into the space before proceeding to avoid headaches or damage.
- Make sure you thoroughly clean the empty space you're leaving behind, and clean all dirt, water, and dust when you have finally moved in.
- Place all computer equipment and all media center parts, boxes, and cords together to avoid confusion.
- Visit your new neighborhood to meet neighbors and get to know what is nearby.
- Take care of mail forwarding and utility hookups prior to moving to make sure you have all the comforts of home in your new space right away.
